Curtis Township

Alcona County, State of Michigan

Monthly Meetings to be held at Glennie United Methodist Church at 6:30pm 2nd Thursday of the month.*

Curtis Township is located in the southwest corner of Alcona County. Curtis Township was organized in 1881 and named for it’s first settler, E.D. Curtis.
The township is bisected by highway M-65 with many streams and rivers flowing through it’s fields and forests.
The main communities are Glennie and Curtisville. The township hall is located in Glennie. Both communities began during the Michigan lumbering boom
in the 1880’s. Curtisville sits overlooking the beautiful AuSable River and Alcona Dam. A convenient camping park
and boat-launching area lies just north of Curtisville on the river.
Today the communities remain small rural towns with several small lakes in addition to the AuSable River. With over half the township included
in the Huron National Forest, winter snowmobile and summer hiking trails abound.

New Information from the Township will be posted here in the future.
